I used a standard PC with mostly powercore and universal audio plugins. I used Nuendo as my recording platform. I used Morley 3A as well as Neuman U87 mics to record.

I first started with a simple guitar as a rythem track and built the instruments around that. For the drum tracks I used several plugins by steinberg and sounds-on-line sofware after the instuments were laid down. I also used steinberg base player for the bass tracks asnd used a small keyboard for that process.

I would pick a bass sound that sounded bright and distinct and then would equalize at during the mix to blend the sound a even as possible to fit the mix.

The mics were placed closed to the mouth for the mai vocals and a pop filter was used to prevent spikes in the vocals. The vocals were recorded with either a summit preamp or an Avalon. These were feed directly into the computer interface ans the levels were keep around zero DB for optimum sound quality and to avoid distortion. All levels were monitored and then mixed. I would also sometimes use a real bass guitar feed directly into the intereface.

I played all the instruments and watched my levels carefully so I would no distort. After all instruments were recorded including backing vocals, the main lead vocals were recorded last. Then I used wavelab to Nuendo to mix everthing together and wavelab to master and burn a CD master.

I used whatever instuments I had at the time.
