Adventures In Audio with Audio Masterclass

“Thought I Told U About That” by Jazz Saxophonist Keyan Williams

I released my first debut album in 2006, The Art of Living, it has a funky groove, creating sweet sensations to the listening ear.” The CD has its own flavor, with a very soulful touch. It is a grooved filled production that is reminiscent of the kind of music Grover Washington Jr. made.

I am currently working on my next project due to be release end of year 2008.

Currently, my music is being played on several live and web radio stations (details noted in Press Kit) as well; I will be performing live for the San Jose Jazz fest in August 2008, and recently had the pleasure of performing the national anthem in Chicago at the Chicago Bulls pre-season opening game. Locally, in Arizona I have preformed at menu jazz venues, and events, and recently had the pleasure of performing live for the Verrado Fest, where I was amongst a line up of some of the finest jazz artist; Paul Taylor, Alex Bugnon, Stanley Jordan to name a few.

My home studio consists of the following…
1 Mackie mixing board
3 Sound modules:
Roland Fantom XR
Motif Rack ES
E-MU Morpheus
1 Keyboard: Triton Extreme
Software: Cubase 3sx, Sonar 4, Waves Platinum, Various VST's (Korg Legacy. BFD, EZDrummer, synths etc..) just to name a few.
Computer: HP Pavillion D4000E
Tranzport: for remote punch ins

I basically start with drums and bass line. Once I get something that fits the mood (rather it's funky and a really nice ballet) I start to groove off of that. The software of choice has been Cubase but because of the painstaking problem of loading the patches I may start using Sonar again. All pre-productions is done at my home studio and engineered by me. Once all midi tracks are completed and mixed down I go to a production studio to do my analog recording. Final mix down and mastering. Doing my pre-production at my home studio cuts cost and ensures me that the initial work is set the way I want it.
