Townsend Labs is proud to announce the immediate availability of version 1.2 of the Sphere plug-in, the software component of the Sphere L22 modeling microphone system. The update—which is included for all existing and new Sphere L22 owners—adds nine new microphone models. This brings the total number of included models to over 20. The update is both for native and UAD-2 versions of the plug-in.
Welcome to the family!
Four versions of the classic 414, a Korby modded 87, a new old stock 67, two different sounding 77DX ribbon mics and one of the most popular vocal mics—the dynamic 7A, famously used by Michael Jackson and James Hetfield. These are the new members of the Sphere family, which now includes over 20 world-class microphones.
About Townsend Labs:
Founded in 2015 and based in Campbell, California, Townsend Labs is the market leader when it comes to microphone modeling systems. The first production batch of the company's Sphere L22 was funded by an Indiegogo campaign which reached eight times the targeted amount. And now that it has general availability, the Sphere L22 is a top seller at some of the world's biggest pro audio retailers. Townsend Labs was founded by Chris Townsend and Erik Papp. Chris worked at Avid for thirteen years doing DSP programming for Pro Tools and related software plug-ins. He was also a key developer of the Eleven guitar amplifier modeling and the ReVibe room modeling technologies. Erik led Summit Audio for ten years as CEO and owner before the company was acquired by Blue Microphones and Transom Capital.
