Musical scales are built from simple numerical ratios. This video demonstrates how a musical scale can be made from first principles.

Thanks to Pythagoras and Ptolemy of ancient Greece we have the foundations of musical scales, leading to chords, harmonies and all the wonderful music we have today.

In this video I go back to first principles to create a musical scale from simple numeric ratios

The result is interesting, maybe a little sour-sounding compared to what we're used to today, but something that every musician ought to try out for themselves.
